PUTTS CORNER SOUTH EAST DEVON

We arrived yesterday without incident this time!- 12 noon and first in the queue to get a pitch, took the one which we stayed on 2 years ago with Freddy, happy memories. It's close to an oak tree, a lot bigger than 2 years ago. Had very little sleep the previous night with Di fidgeting around in a state. We passed the spot where I blacked out, so that's that ghost laid to rest hopefully. Broadband via my Voda dongle is workable but quite slow. We've been for a few walks around the site which is almost full to capacity, chatted a lot to people, sat outside in the sun, having a relaxing time!
The weather yesterday was very hot and sunny but it thundered & rained heavily during the night. At the moment, 8am Monday it's fine & sunny with blue skies and very quiet with Di & Tim still sleeping. Traffic noise is audible but not disturbing. We're sharing the site with some chicks- see photo above, sorry if you were expecting someting else! They're red legged partridges. -- Update Saturday 4th, there were 13 chicks, now sadly only 1. Nature is very cruel.

After lunch we went to Sidmouth, primarily to get a loaf of bread but also had a walk along the prominade which seems to have changed little since Victorian times. We had icecreams- I bought the wrong ones (as usual), Walls Magnums, won't buy those again, just too sweet for me now and Di hated the dark choc covering- Tim thought it was OK!
View above is looking towards Branscoombe, scene of ship wreck. Some floating cranes may be visible through the fog.
