Before I get onto old friends here are some photos of the sunsets we have from our pitch. Other campers have SLR cameras with tripods, zoom lenses and filters, I'm in the minority with only my phone. At least I'm getting something to remember our visit!
I must also add details of our evening walk to Rocky Valley about a quarter of a mile from the site, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_Valley. Unfortunately we couldn't get to the old mill buildings and the labyrinth as cows were blocking the path. I tried shouting but they just stared at me as cows do! I'll try another day.
After lunch, our old friends Pat & Louise joined us at the site for a long chat, catching up on 3 years of goings on at the site where we used to keep our caravan in Rock, about 10 miles south of here. A few days ago, we visited the site in Pat & Louise's absence but had a conversation with the site owner Roger, a very busy man still making money wherever he can. The site was absolutely packed with caravans and tents everywhere, including the lawned areas outside his house! The paddock where we kept our caravan had 8 units whereas in our day 4 was the norm.
We carried on to Rock where many houses have been demolished to build bigger ones plus many gardens of houses have been sold to cram in other houses. Next we went to Polzeath which was a seething mass of humanity with cars parked both sides of the road making two way traffic impossible. Again here new building was evident, with huge blocks of flats everywhere.
Our general impression of the whole area was one of money grabbing wherever possible - we won't be back for a long time!
