PARKGATE

Today we ventured out to Parkgate, an odd looking place!  It looks like a seaside resort but has no beach! While chatting to a local we learned that it used to be an important port before Liverpool docks were constructed, but silted up when the Dee was re-routed and now only supports a few fishermen catching shrimps.
Mostyn House School, a striking black and white building on the right of the photo, was opened in Parkgate in 1855 & closed in 2010. (click on the photo to see all of it)
Parking was a bit of a nightmare, however, we found place near a church and were invited to see the harvest festival flower arrangements.
Parkgate is also famous for ice-cream, but there was no way we were queuing for it. Instead we bought some from the camp site on our return - Timmy insisted!
