BRACKEN FARM CARAVAN PARK

We arrived on Sunday at the site near Helston http://www.brackenfarmcaravanpark.com/, not too far from the Lizard. The allocated pitch, unfortunately, lost the sunshine (& almost the daylight, too!) at  about 3pm - not that I sit in the sun for long before looking for a bit of dappled shade, however Di likes to bake in it so we were not too pleased.

I had a word with the owner, asking to move to the sunny side where there were empty pitches. After a bit of head scratching he suggested a pitch would be available the next day, but for 5 days only, then back to the gloom! It appears that regulars can specify a pitch in advance, whether their stay is one day or one month, whereas newcomers get what they're given! This despite the fact that the two week booking was made 10 months earlier - a fine way to encourage new business! Would we come back here? - not on your life!!!

Having discussed it, now that we've had "preferential treatment" for 5 days, we decided to make a stand and will depart tomorrow if our wishes are not met. It will probably mean losing a week's site fees which we have already paid, but that's the price of having principles. We shall see tomorrow!

With no cancellations and all sunny pitches allocated to others and not occupied, we had no alternative but to leave.

Sunset from our pitch - the chimney is a disused tin mine engine house.
Lizard Point, the most southerly tip of Britain.

Porthleven in the distance.
