Today
we ploughed on west and a bit south to Hebden Bridge, set up and
baked.! It was just so hot, 33C and at 11pm. We had the best (or was it the
worst) ever thunderstorm. The hail stones sounded like gun shots on the MH roof, so loud you couldn't hear each other speaking! We fully expected to find
cracks in the acrylic roof panels. Poor Timmy was beside
himself with the noise. It was a sticky night with both of us sleeping
on top of the beds as we couldn't open any roof lights.
The next day
it a was bit cooler but with intermittent rain ready for me to BBQ in the evening-
typical! This site is quite small, just 40 caravans/motorhomes but
has no facilities other than fresh water and waste disposal so we have
to make the most of the on-board facilities. Things are getting easier
as we find just where we put things when we packed some weeks ago. The site does have some road noise and a babbling brook! Road noise does seem to stop at night.
We found a good pitch were the sat TV worked.
Above is the main street with a factory chimney in the background. Interesting
architecture around here, the stone appears to have been light coloured
originally but now is blackened in part. I'm not sure if it is weathered
or perhaps was soiled by smoke during the industrial era. Having said that
there's not that many factory chimneys around and certainly not any
still working.
Someone playing tricks here with balanced stones in the river!
And the actual bridge!
Long distance shot somewhere nearby.
