2018

It's getting more and more difficult to document our exploits so I haven't written any blog for about 3 years, I'm afraid I've lost a lot of interest. So could I urge you, dear reader, to add a comment, even if it's just one word so I don't think I'm wasting my time.

Last year I had two Prostate biopsies, so damn painful and bleeding to follow. The second result confirmed I had Prostate cancer which would now need treatment. The choice was either robotic surgery or radio therapy. The surgeon was reluctant to "go in as he put it" without a MRI to identify any likely problems. A MRI is impossible as I have a pacemaker.
So RT it was. It'll all be over by March, I was told in January. What a joke, the consultant was obviously out of touch with current practice which specified 3 months of hormone therapy first. That's designed to dramatically reduce Testosterone to shrink the prostate and rob it of the substance which feeds the cancer. Hot flushes followed!!
So 4th June I started RT with 4 weeks of daily treatment. No pain or discomfort, just the embarrassment of getting your kit off in front of 3 female and 1 male technician!

So we cancelled our planned trips to accommodate  4 weeks of treatment and the result is below. Photos will follow, I'm working on it now 9th Sept 2020........

The year started with an infestation of rats, cheeky ones coming right up to the patio doors where Timmy was waiting to see them off!  I bought some rat traps and managed to trap a few. They were taken walkies about half a mile away and released. Unfortunately I also caught birds, one of which died with the effort of trying to escape, so that was the end of the rat traps. A neighbour mentioned he had an air rifle to pot the blighters, I dared to ask if I could borrow it. OK, so I used to be a crack shot when I was a lad and  managed to shoot one, not something I relish but needs must. They all seemed to disappear from that point!!

Our next project was to get rid of a flower bed which had become overgrown

with prickly bushes so the suggestion was to make it into a patio as it always

had sunlight from lunchtime onwards. The bushes were removed and soil

moved from the front edge to the back to level the ground. The pegs and

string indicating he desired profile.
