28th April- 8th May Hurne Lane Caravan Club Site Burnham on Sea (on the Bristol Channel)
This time a site with full facilities and about 100 other caravans and motorhomes! Again we are on a hard standing with an electric hookup and an immaculate shower block. We like these sites as they are all the highest standard- no rowdy teenagers or roaming dogs. The surrounding area is extremely flat with drainage ditches- the site is just 17 feet above sea level. We are within 5 minutes walk of the beach which is a good mile long of mainly hard sand but some areas are too soft to support cars using the beach for parking. The tide goes out for about half a mile as the rise and fall in the Bristol channel is 49 feet, the second highest in the world. Unfortunately it is not all sand but brown mud after the first 100 yds of sand !

We went to Weston Super Mare, a quaint seaside town trying to get up to date. I noticed the population on the streets were mainly elderly which is borne out by the number of residential home dotted around. Di went shopping whereas Timmy and I went for a long walk along the promenade and onto the beach in an area where dogs were allowed. He had a good run, even visited a man who was fishing at the water's edge- he was not impressed! On our return walk he still wanted to go back to the beach.
