We're having really hot weather with temperatures around 24C in the shade. I shade skulk or just stay indoors having had a scare from UV exposure and I just get too hot anyway!
Yesterday while the patio was in the shade I managed to treat the wooden furniture with teak oil, working on the basis that this hot weather had come to an end and we wouldn't need to sit out on it but here we go again this morning, good old blue skies and sunshine.

I'm including some photos of the transmitter/receiver I built from a kit- 350 small pieces which needed my binocular magnifier to place and solder. I suppose it took about a month on and off, I was in no rush to finish it and quite enjoyed the challenge. To my surprise it worked first time but I'm still a bit reluctant to actually transmit (only 5 watts) until I get a reply from the manufacturers of the pacemaker re amateur radio. I did get an email reply stating that due to EEC regulations they could not communicate with me as I am not a medical practitioner- what a cop out, as if my GP would know the first thing about ham radio to relay to them. I'm now relying on a phone call reply, some day! Blasted EEC, we would be better off out of it.
The rest of today we'll be busy in the kitchen preparing grub for Paul, Clare and Holly's visit tomorrow.
