OUR FIRST TRIP FOR 2010-03-29

Destination Tramble Valley Caravan Club site near Perranporth Cornwall. We set off reasonably close to our target time of 10am and made good progress until about a mile from the site where we missed a turn to the right. Disaster, no place to turn an outfit 37 feet long which is not capable of reversing! Fortunately we found a camp site which had not yet opened with a large entrance where we uncoupled the car and stowed the A frame. At this stage the sat-nav seemed have our destination on screen so I lead the way in the MH with Di following in the car. To cut a long story short we got hopelessly lost with the sat-nav leading us to a back entrance to the site down a bridle way! Needless to say we didn’t take it but elected to try to retrace our route back to the fork in the road where we took the right instead of the left. Our mistake cost us an hour of messing about in lanes having to reverse for oncoming traffic and squeeze into narrow spaces.

We arrived on site at 1.30pm, quickly found a level pitch, plugged into the mains electric and had lunch. The MH and car were plastered in mud, to which the warden jokingly said “we don’t allow MH’s on site in that state”!
A nice site and good pitch but sadly no mobile phone signal on any network and accordingly no Internet access either. On the plus side there’s a really good dog walk for my boy. We spent the rest of the day arranging our bits and pieces and watching the rain!
