START OF OUR 5 WEEK HOLIDAY

Yesterday, we travelled from home in South Devon to a small CC CL (5 van minimal facility site) in Cheshire, near Nantwich. It wasn't without incident, as the car made gear grinding noises as Di tried to move forward to hitch up to the MH, just outside our village. It was as if the clutch wasn't engaging, unusual on an automatic transmission! We made the decision to press on and sort the problem at our first destination, in Malvern. After a phone call to Rich, we decided to go with his suggestion, to gain a day by missing the stopover at Malvern and pressing on to Cheshire, which was to be our second stop. Fortunately, the CL could accomodate us.

We stopped for lunch at a motorway service area, where I tried the car expecting the same grating gears noise but nothing, it worked as normal!
On arrival at the site, I tried it again with the same positive outcome but we were not happy with the uncertainty at the start of our trip, so decide to take it to a Toyota service centre. They seem to be a bit thin on the ground in this area, but we managed to find a main dealer about 20 miles away. The service was amazing - we were there less than 30 minutes, in which time we had a cup of coffee, the car had been test driven and connected to the diagnostic computer. This, apparently, showed a 2 second glitch when the gears were out of sync, but the clever little car computer then reset itself to factory settings, surprisingly all of this was free!!
Just a ps. Internet is so slow here, it took an hour to add the photos!

Nothing worse than starting a vacation with possible car troubles! We have first hand experience with this so I am very glad that things turned out fine. I'm a bit behind in my blogs reading, and am just catching up. Your vacation sounds wonderful! I look forward to seeing more pictures and posts.
