SALISBURY

Today we visited Salisbury, famous for its cathedral ,which has Britain's highest spire and was painted, from several viewpoints, by John Constable. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see it on this visit as it rained heavily. This forced us into a pub for lunch!
On the left of the photo is a busker playing a banjo. For some reason, I seem to like banjo music, perhaps because I think it's very skillful, or maybe because I seem to know all the tunes. Some would say that's because they all sound the same!

I took a video with sound for just 30 seconds, but it occupies 75Mb, an impossibility to upload at the moment with this mobile dongle. I'll try at home next week. I'm sure many people would like to hear the banjo - hmmm.
I managed to crunch it down to about 5Mb by converting to a Windows Media File. Hope you enjoy it!

A view in the opposite direction with the cathedral spire just visible.

Looks like a lovely town. My late mother-in-law, originally from England, traced her family history back to a line that included John Constable as a distant relative. We have always loved his paintings and this made him all the more interesting to us.
