THE TREE FELLA

It’s a long time since I posted, so here we go again with some activity at home. Back at the end of November, we decided to have some work done on the Sycamores in the garden. Mainly to tidy the straggly things, improve the light in the house and generally reduce the amount of leaf cluttering the garden in the autumn. The idea was to reduce the large sycamore and remove the “small” one. Note the small one was now almost as big as the large one!

Due to a misunderstanding the big sycamore didn’t get a prune but we’re wondering just how long we can risk having it with more gales forecast for future winters. It would be a disaster if it fell hitting the bungalow and, I have no doubt, the insurance company would find a way to avoid paying up.

It was fascinating to watch the tree slowly diminishing with the tree surgeon climbing and securing himself before hacking off branches. Eventually all that was left was the trunk which he then chopped into pieces about 2ft long and dropped to the ground.

Finally, we had a view of our neighbours and no more small sycamore!
As usual, no post is complete without a photo of Timmy, here waiting for "tennis" to be thrown along the hall!

So lush and green. Are you a wood turner? I'm wondering if sycamore would turn well....
Lovely photos!
