SIX AND A HALF WEEKS AWAY, OUR BIG TRIP

Each year we take a 6 week holiday to an area remote from Devon. This year it is to the North East of England and the Borders with Scotland. Our first night was spent at Birmingham 200 miles from home, ready for the next 200 north to Mickleton in Teesdale. The site is a small Caravan Club CL (just 5 vans) in a pub garden, very handy for eating out!
Our latest project is the awning and this is the first time we have erected it. Having seen a person erect one in about 15 minutes, you would think it was easy. I thought I could reach the attachment point just standing on the van step. Foolish boy, you need a ladder! Fortunately, a neighbour had one and after a lot of tugging we managed to do it. The next stage was inflation with the hand pump, the easy bit!
All was well until we realised the neighbour was leaving before us. No ladder to get it down, so we went to Darlington and bought a 3 step ladder which just fits in the ski locker. I knew there just had to be a some use for a ski locker in England!

High Force waterfall and Frosterley below where Di enjoyed many childhood picnics (a few years ago!)

They live up there in the trees!

It's a hard life being a dog.

In the pub with Margaret and Alan, Di's brother and his wife.

Timmy's new best friend!
